PROSTaid was started in 2006.

We are a local, registered,

Leicestershire. PROST aid covers Leicestershire, Rutland and
Northamptonshire and soon to cover Lincolnshire we rely on donations
and bequests to continue our work and receive no government funding.
We are run by prostate cancer patients, families, friends and urological
professionals.
Provide support & befriending.

We provide Information & counselling
for all prostate cancer & prostate disease suffers and their families given
by local men who themselves have prostate cancer & diseases of the
prostate! We run five support groups that meet regularly.
Fund new “cutting edge” treatments not available on limited NHS
Budgets.

Most recently, local research into a vital new blood test with
the John Van Geest Centre in Nottingham that will be able to show the
difference between men who have prostate cancer and advanced
prostate cancer. the fiduciary gold seeds for local patients to ensure
optimum safety of their Radiotherapy treatment.
Raise awareness and educate local men and local GP’s.

We run master classes for our medical professionals so prostate cancer
amongst local men is spotted earlier and can be treated effectively. We
undertake awareness days in the workplace, and in the towns and
communities that we serve

SENIORS CAPTAIN

In 2017 I moved to Caythorpe, Lincolnshire to be closer to my daughter and
new grandson. Although, I have lived in numerous counties during my
working career I have found Lincolnshire to be the most friendliest of all
those other counties. Which is credit to the people of Lincolnshire.

Having played golf for many years in Leicestershire and restarting after
Covid, I decided I needed a new challenge and thought Belton Woods Golf
Club would give me that challenge with having two superb courses which
have entirely different characteristics. I have not been disappointed and I am
still trying to get to grips with the two courses.

Joining the senior section of Belton Woods Golf Club has been one of my
better decisions in life. From the first time I turn up they were very friendly,
accommodating and very welcoming and very keen to get a £1 from me for
my contribution to the social rollup.

Talking about social golf, we have roll ups on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday. The choosing of playing partners is totally random therefore you are
always playing with different partners.

The seniors have their own Web page, which gives all members new and old
Information on everything golf for the year and up and coming social events.
For those who like match play we play numerous golf matches against other
Golf Clubs within the County.

The Seniors section also run monthly competitions for both Medal and
Stableford which are used as qualifiers for ones handicap. If this is not
enough we also have the Captains day which is used, to raise funds for the
Captains nominated Charity and two away days.

To qualify for the Sections Section you most be 55 or over and looking to join
an active and friendly group of people. When you join the main club just ask
about the seniors section and they will give you our details or just go to the
www.beltonwoodsseniors.co.uk

My nominated charity this year will be for Prostrate Cancer ( www.prostaid.co.uk PROSTaid)
having been diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 2022 and treated
successfully at Lincoln County Hospital. I will be trying to publicise the
condition and treatments at my Captains day, on the 13th June. I look
forward to anyone who wants to join me and the rest of the seniors in a very
pleasurable day’s golf.
