FRIENDLY MATCHES 2017

Captain: Liz Moses

Monday 8th May 2017

Belton Woods Ladies  Vs Belton Park Ladies finished all square.

Monday 3rd July 2017

Belton Woods Ladies Vs Melton Mowbray.

Drew 2 & 2. Teams were Liz and Lis Isles, Hnin and Di, Rita and Jacqui and Donna and Linda.

Wednesday 9th August 2017

Belton Woods Ladies Vs Boston West.  Match postponed due to forecast of heavy rain.  Will be rescheduled.

We had 3 friendly matches arranged for October: Rutland County, Greetham Valley and

Boston West. Two of these were re-scheduled from June and August, following atrocious

weather forecasts. Our actions were proved correct, as we had glorious weather on 27th

October, and a pleasant day with no wind at Rutland County on 9th October! Rutland

County are struggling to find ladies to play competitions and could only raise 3 pairs. Their

lady captain has subsequently contacted me to say that they can no longer play us as a

friendly fixture as they are having such difficulty in finding players. I have passed this to

Lesley and suggested that we could try some of the local clubs to fill this gap- such as

Sleaford, Burghley, Blankney or Newark. Regrettably our friendly against Greetham had to

be cancelled at the last minute as an accident had totally blocked the A1and many of the

Greetham ladies were unable to travel. I am pleased to say that we won 3-0 at Rutland

and 4-0 at Boston West. We have now played all our friendlies for this year and I am

pleased to report that we only lost one fixture, to Stoke Rochford, drawing against the arch

enemies at Belton Park, and against Melton Mowbray, and winning against The

Nottinghamshire, Rutland County and Boston West.

My thanks go to all the ladies who give up their time to represent the ladies

Result : Belton Woods Ladies  Win 3 1/2 to 1/2

8 Belton Woods Ladies took on the team from Rutland County Golf Club on Monday 6th June for a friendly Matchplay Competition on the Lakes.

The weather was hot and sunny and the course looked amazing making us all feel very proud of our club.

Unfortunately, the Rutland ladies were one player down and their Lady Captain Ngoneh  was, in her words, "Billy no mates" going out with our Match Captain Liz who partnered Pat (Hall). Despite this, all the Rutland ladies said they had thoroughly enjoyed playing.

Liz thanked all the ladies for their support.
