Lady Captain's Charity 2021

I am pleased and proud to announce my chosen charity for my captaincy year is SUPPORT DOGS.

Support Dogs is a registered national charity dedicated to increasing independence and quaity of life for adults and children with various medical conditions.  They provide, train and support specialist assistance dogs to achieve this.

The specially trained support dogs transform the lives of children with autism and their families, alert people with epilepsy of an oncoming seizure up to 55 minutes beforehand, and provide disability assistance for adults. This service is totally free to the recipient which is why supporting this charity is so important. The service is truly life-changing and, in some case, life saving.

Most of the support dogs used are from rehoming centres or, in some cases, the client can have their own dog trained but this is usually only for the physically disabled.

This charity receives no government support and relies solely on the generosity of the public.

A lady in Grantham has benefited from Support Dogs and I have attached a link to her story below.  There are numerous other heartwarming testimonials from beneficiaries also so please take a look.

The charity received over 4,500 requests for help from people across the UK in 2019 and this will have only increased in 2020. It costs £21,000 to train one support dog and £2,000 each year to support each life-changing partnership.

By choosing to donate to Support Dogs, you are helping to improve the quality of life for children, adults and families living with some of the most challenging of conditions.

Thank  you for your support.
