Belton Woods GC hosted the Midlands Regional Final of the British Inter-Clubs Mixed Team Championships. All golf clubs in England, Scotland and Wales were able to enter a team of five mixed pairs each to be played in a regionalised knockout format.
The four successful regional champions will each win a three-night, four-day trip to Portugal and the chance to be crowned national mixed team club champions. Players will tee up at Boavista Golf & Spa Resort, home to an exciting course in the picturesque Western Algarve.
The regional final was played on the Lakes course on Saturday against Hill Valley GC from Shropshire. After a close run front 9, Belton Woods secured a 5-0 win. The Belton team results were:
Matt Haynes/Ailsa Lines won 4-3
Chris Haynes/Julie White won 2 up
Rob Palframan/Gaynor Palframan won 5-3
Rob Harris/Kim Davies won 3-2
Brian Robinson/Kathy Donnelly 5-3
Speeches and refreshments followed the game with thanks to both teams and supporters by the captains. Belton Woods now look forward to planning their trip to Boavista Golf Resort in Portugal’s Western Algarve to play in the finals.
