Master Handicap List 27th November 2011
Active / Inactive (i) Handicaps
The requirements are as follows:-
- Players are required to submit 3 qualifying scores (including supplementary scores or away scores) during the calendar year to avoid an Inactive handicap the following year.
- An Inactive handicap will become Active by returning 3 qualifying scores during the calendar year. NR’s will be accepted as part of the 3 qualifying scores unless the Committee are of the opinion that they have been returned deliberately in order to gain an Active handicap.
- Clubs will be permitted to exempt players from an inactive handicap for injury / illness that has prevented them from achieving the required number of qualifying scores during a calendar year. This will also include those players who are transferring membership who have submitted scores albeit at another Club and to golfers new to the game who are being issued with first CONGU handicap.
Players whose handicap has become inactive will be required to return three qualifying scores before the indicator is removed. Qualifying scores of less than 3 are not permitted to be carried over to the next year, i.e. no topping up of qualifying scores permitted, e.g. 1 score in the previous year and 2 in current year.
Clubs are likely to impose (Belton Woods have) entry conditions that require an active handicap for specific competitions such as Opens, Invitation Days and Trophy events. In all other cases Clubs must allow "home" players with inactive handicaps entry to qualifying competitions in order to provide as much opportunity as possible for the removal of the inactive handicap.
An inactive handicap can still be used for social golf and those competitions for which an active handicap is not an entry condition. Scores from players with inactive handicaps will be used in the calculation of a CSS.
Inactive handicaps will be followed by an ί, example: 12 ί
Competitions and Handicaps
The information below is a guide to ensure you get the best out of our club from the beginning.
Notice board behind 19 bar: Monthly fixtures, competition results and general information such as meeting minutes, etc are all displayed on the club notice-board.
Handicaps and Competitions: You must have an official handicap in order to participate in club competitions. To obtain an official handicap you must first submit 3 cards, played on either the Lakes or Woodside courses and marked by a competent person (preferably by another club member). The signed cards should then be left in the Handicap box, which is located behind 19 Bar.
There are a variety of competitions every month which you can enter, provided you have an official handicap. The normal booking procedure is via the computer screen, which is located on the wall behind 19 bar. On other occasions, such as Invitation Days, Captain’s Day, etc then the booking procedure is via the notice-board behind 19 bar.
General Rules: Please take time to familiarise yourself with the Competition Rules, which are located on the club notice-board. The one to note is the 3-comp ban if you fail to turn up for a competition after you have entered your name in the computer.
