Welcome to Belton Woods Golf Club

Established in 1991 and based at the outstanding 475 acre resort complex of DeVere Belton Woods near Grantham, Lincolnshire, our Golf Club is made up of four traditional sections; Men, Ladies, Juniors and Seniors.

With two Championship golf courses, Lakes par 72 and Woodside par 73, and complemented by a well designed nine-hole par 3 course, Belton Woods resort offers a challenge for golfers of all abilities and all ages. With its excellent 4 star 96 room hotel facility and many woodland lodges, Belton Woods has matured into one of the premier “must play” golf resorts in Devere Belton WoodsLincolnshire.

The Championship Lakes Course at 6831 yards and multiple water hazards will offer a great test to all golfers. Long drives, accurate irons and solid putting will bring the very best out of this course.

The Championship Woodside Course now at at 6623 yards is now enhanced by four years of major bunker complex redesigns and improvements, more recently many tee boxes have been rebuilt, and new competition tees added giving the Woodside course a truly unique feel and at times visually stunning challenge.

We hope our members will find everything needed to keep up to date with our club, including links to each section, Ladies, Juniors and Seniors, news, results, course and resort information, plus much more.

Belton Woods is a very friendly club and welcomes visitors to come and enjoy all the facilities the complex has to offer. You will find the golfing staff friendly and happy to do everything they can to make your visit an enjoyable one. We hope our visitors will continue to browse through our pages. Enjoy your virtual visit, then come to play and hopefully join our club, you will not be disappointed.

2012 Club Captain Paul Otter

My Captains charity for 2012 will be the Air Ambulance. I know that we have had that charity in previous years and although I have never used it and hopefully will never have the need to, I feel that this is a very worthwhile local charity that helps a wide range of people.

As Captain I have to be honest and say I intend to take full advantage and play as much golf as humanly possible! This means I will be around the club, even more than I am now….!

Paul Otter

Have a great year and enjoy your golf.

2012 Lady Captain Kathy Donnelly

Dear Lady Golfers,

I am so looking forward to my year as Lady Captain of Belton Woods and wish our entire ladies section a very enjoyable season’s golf in 2012. My sincere thanks go to Sue Waldren, our 2011 Captain, for all her hard work ensuring that our golfing season ran smoothly and successfully.

2012 will see quite a few changes to the Ladies’ Committee. We say goodbye to Angela Body, (Treasurer), Caroline Hills, (Handicap Secretary), Christine Birkett, (Hon Sec), Pat Haynes, (Past Captain), and Trudi Galloway, (Committee Member) and thank them for all their extremely hard work and dedication while on the committee. I would like to welcome the new committee members who will be joining those of us remaining after the AGM, and I am very much looking forward to working with them throughout the year. I know that we shall all do our very best to serve the lady members of Belton Woods.

Please consult your diaries where you will find details of our weekly competitions, league matches, friendly matches and mixed competitions. Hopefully there will be something in there for everyone, and I urge you to join in and have fun with us, whatever stage of golf you are at.

Belton Woods boasts two beautiful and challenging courses and every time I arrive at the club I think how privileged I am to be a member there and to play in such lovely and peaceful surroundings. We are lucky to have such wonderful green keepers who work tirelessly to ensure that we play on the best fairways and greens. Add in the friendship and the laughter (to be heard both on and off the course!) and then I know that I am truly lucky. In four years I have made valuable friends and found a terrific sport that keeps me happily occupied for hours on end!

My chosen charity this year is the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I am supporting the local Grantham Branch which does a sterling job with limited funds, providing emotional and much needed practical support for those unfortunate enough to suffer from this frightening and mystifying illness. As well as the Charity Day, I aim to organise a couple of fun competitions/events, so that we can raise as much money as possible.

With that in mind, all that remains is for me to wish all our members good health, good golf, good friendship and most importantly the ability to enjoy the golf, whatever the score. Just remember the old adage, the more you practise.... the luckier you will become!

2012 Junior Captain Ryan Smith

“I am very pleased and honoured to be selected as Junior Captain for 2012. I am looking forward to spending as much time as possible on the course and representing the club in junior matches.”

Ryan Smith

We have a strong Junior Section, which is split into two groups, Eagles and Juniors. Our Eagles are the younger 5 to 12 year olds or those who are still learning the basics of golf. Our Juniors are the older, more experienced and more serious young players.

Our club nights run every Thursday evening from April through to the end of September, meeting at 5.00 pm on the putting green. From there the Eagles will normally go out to play on the course and new for this year are monthly friendly competitions. Our older Juniors take club nights as the opportunity for additional practice time, as well as helping the younger ones with their skills.

Golf for us is about enjoying what we do and trying to have fun, but keeping the traditions of good manners, good dress standards, good etiquette and care for the course.
